Date coaching is a new form of therapy, which is not billable through insurance. These sessions are specifically for individuals who need to speak to a therapist right before an actual date, because they have extreme nervous tension, anxiety, or fear related to the situation. It can also be a quick way to gain confidence in an otherwise uncomfortable situation. These sessions are done through Skype and last between 30 and 60 minutes. The sessions revolve around understanding how to approach the date, how to stay safe and still get to know the person, and what will most likely occur. We might also discuss the newest and most pertinent techniques for dating, and how to engage someone on a date.
Many individuals find dating and understanding the opposite sex very difficult and find that a short session before hand can alleviate the preconceived anxiety. Most clients who try date coaching want to find a partner, but are just unsure how to go about it. In session, we discuss where to meet others with common interests, how to make yourself seem more interesting, and what makes you desirable to others.
For most clients, date coaching is a relatively quick situation and only 2 to 5 sessions are required. I find that most of my clients who are frustrated with where their dating situations, benefit greatly from this therapy.
